Once the optical system is designed and analyzed, it is time to build the initial units in order to identify necessary modifcations prior to committing to tooling-for-volume manufacturing. SMA Optical Technologies will help you through this critical phase.
Components are turned on a state-of-the-art Moore Nanotech Systems 350 with positional accuracy of less than 1 micron, and capable of surface smoothness of less than 10 nm. A variety of optical components has been prototyped on this machine with uniformly successful results.
With this capability, SMA can offer its customers the ability to assess the optical system without having to bear the large cost of tooling and molding a prototype system. Determining prototype performance can often be cut from months to weeks! In fact, fabrication of glass elements of the design are frequently the pacing item.
Antireflection (AR) coating of these plastic aspheres is routinely accomplished as well.
